Situation
CMA Ideacom has been providing communications systems and services to clients for over 45 years. The company began in St. Paul, Minnesota and has now expanded to include nine states. Despite their success, CMA Ideacom came to realize that their website was not up to speed with the rest of their company. They contacted Cazarin Web Group and decided to work together with them to build a better website and achieve maximum success.
Research
Cazarin Web Group first decided to conduct a needs analysis to determine the status of the company and its website and to decide what the priorities would be for the upcoming project. Included in the analysis was the development of an strategy and information architecture to determine what sections should be built.
Following this analysis, they determined that the website was lacking in many areas and needed the most work done right away. The site especially needed a way to bring less popular hidden services and products to the attention of the user and current customers. Many of the customers didn't realize all of the services that CMA Ideacom offered. The website would be a way to educate prospects and also current customers of the corporation.
Planning
Following the needs analysis, Cazarin Web Group presented to the executive team at CMA Ideacom. Cazarin received consensus for the plan to conduct the upgrade of CMA Ideacom’s website and then move onto search engine optimization. This would ensure that the website was improved and would have a greater rate of success once Cazarin began the process of driving more people to the website.
Execution
The website construction began next. Two tunnels were created, one for the healthcare industry and one for education: kindergarten through 12th grade. This organized the information so that these two very different groups of end user demographics would be able to find what they were looking for easily and in a logical manner. Another innovative part of the website was the refresh feature on the homepage. Each time a user refreshes the homepage from another page on the website, it would refresh and change. Displaying a new picture upon each visit to the homepage kept the site fresh and interesting. Customers were also able to discover that CMA Ideacom had more products than they thought because the site essentially became a product and services catalog. This solved the problem of hidden products and services because they were easily seen and accessed by users.
Evaluation
The CMA Ideacom website project proved to be a great success. Because the website had been upgraded and redesigned before search engine optimization, once the search engine optimization process began, it drove significant leads to a more efficient and productive website. The company reported that the SEO created significant leads from customers in territories nationwide that CMA Ideacom was not even associated with. They had so many leads that they had to turn them over to other companies that covered these territories! CMA Ideacom is very happy with their new website and readily attributes this overwhelming success to what Cazarin Web Group did for them.
